Washington, D.C.– IFIC Foundation’s “Food Biotechnology: A Communicator’s Guide to Improving Understanding today was honored with top recognition in the “most improved magazine or journal category” in Association TRENDS’ 2013 All-Media Contest. It was one of nearly 470 entries in the association publications contest.

The Guide, revised and updated from its 2003 version, reflects new developments in food biotechnology research, regulation, and product availability from the last decade, as well as new consumer insights and changing communication methods, such as the advent of digital media.

The award judges commented: “Paradigm shift in presentation of content offering major upgrade of engagement by user—font, paper, format, color … everything. NOW it is a guide encouraging communication … before it was lots of paper in a binder. Taking that big step to ‘improve’ says much about their commitment to walk their talk. Well Done!!!”

“We are elated to receive recognition for this Guide,” said David Schmidt, IFIC Foundation President and CEO. “A lot of hard work and research went into it to include the most reliable science currently available, and we couldn’t be more pleased. Our thanks to the designer, writers, and reviewers who contributed to helping us create this award-winning resource.”

The TRENDS All-Media Contest is an annual competition held exclusively for associations, recognizing the most creative and effective communication vehicles developed over the prior year. The 2013 competition included a record 467 entries in 22 categories of association communications.

Awardees were honored today at the 35th Annual Salute to Association Excellence at the Capital Hilton in Washington, D.C., where Lindsey Loving received the award on behalf of the IFIC Foundation. Winning entries were on display. This year’s All-Media Contest winners were featured in the January issue of TRENDS, in print and online for subscribers.
